Custom Small Quillwork Turtle Pouch

This pouch was a request from a female customer who wanted “a small, thin, unlined pouch with a quillwork turtle that looks period correct”. She left all other design features to us.

This bag is made from 2-3 ounce goat skin for it’s soft, supple feel. The flap features 18th Century quillwork designs with a turtle design front and center as requested. The body’s front stitching includes bone beads on every 5th stitch. Additional decoration include four brass deer hair cones with brass beads and quill wrapped thongs.

The bag is fully hand-stitched and measures only 5” tall x 5” wide with a 3/4” gusset and a 1/2” wide strap made adjustable by a brass buckle.

The small pouch may be worn as a neck bag or as a side pouch.
